FORDA Aspirant Assures Inhabitants of Rokel Community

A philanthropist and businessman, Mr. Safia L. Moiwa, who is running for the chairmanship of Friend of Rokel Development Association (FORDA), has said that if elected to serve as chairman of the Association he will bring development to Rokel community.

His comment came at the nomination platform at the Rokel Tombodu Gas Station, Rokel community in Freetown.

Mr. L. Moiwa informed the gathering about his intention to create the enabling environment for development to thrive in Rokel community.

He said that Rokel community has grown to a point that a lot of things have to be done to improve the lives of its inhabitants.

“I am the one who has the key to make those changes if given the position as chairman of Friend of Rokel Development Association (FORDA), to make the sacrifices necessary to put this community at the forefront of the most urgently needed development we are craving for here,” he said.

He said that “I am the most suited for the position. I have the experience and skill. I have sought the opportunity to make meaningful contribution as an ordinary resident; it is now more imperative to take a frontline role, and committing myself to providing leadership in addressing the development concerns of our noble community through an organized setting as Friends of Rokel Development Association.”

“I see an opportunity here to grow Rokel to a cosmopolitan settlement with complementary added values.”

Mr. L. Moiwa said, “As a businessman, I have built strong and reputable connection with well-established and respected business communities in the country and the sub-region. This will serve our common good cause in mobilizing resources, goods and services for trade at our local level thereby easing domestic transactions in our community, as testament of such personal contact and endeavor.”

He said, “I am a politician and more so aligned with the government of the day. Being pragmatic in nature (not opportunistic), I connect well with the powers that be. If therefore elected to the position of chairman for the Association, I will be in good standing with the government to legitimately push for the mobilization of resources allocated for national development to trickle down in proportionate measure to Rokel.”

He said that as a graduate, he has the greatest of respect for education as a prime move of development. “I will champion the priority manifesto agenda of H.E the President Rtd, Brigadier Maada Bio for the free quality Education,” he said.

“If elected these are my plans: I will strive to forester unity in the community devoid of party, tribe, religion and any other characterization that divides us. On Infrastructural development I will collaborate with the relevant government authorities such as councilors, section heads and the Member of Parliament to advocate for capital projects such as township road network, drainages, street lights for the upgrade and beautification of Rokel,” Mr. L. Moiwa said.

He said that he will set up education committee to domesticate the free quality education plans of the government in Rokel.

On environmental protection, he said they will endeavor to be proactive to protect the environment. He added that he will improve on water supply and sanitation in the community.

All other positions gone unopposed ahead of Saturday February 16, 2019, election between Mr. Safia L. Moiwa and Thomas Kamara. The nomination was conducted by Mr. Sahr Yambasu and Mr. Moses M. Gbettu, members of the Association.
