New Website to Boost Sierra Leone Music





In a bid to boost the country’s music industry, two young entrepreneurs in the entertainment sector in Sierra Leone have officially launched an entertainment website: www.salonesong.com.
The launched was held over the weekend at Hotel 5 : 10 in the east end of the Freetown., and was graced by a number of dignitaries in the entertainment sector.

Yeama Konteh, a Sierra Leonean based in the United State of America, said she decided to team up with her Sierra Leonean brother, Joshua Mulbah, who before now was residing in Liberia to promote Sierra Leoneans Artists songs at the international arena.


Yeama said the website is going to specifically focus its attention in order to help boost and promote not only local songs but also the country’s culture and values including African songs.


The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of www.salonesong.com, Joshua Mulbah popularly known as Salone Borbor, noted that Sierra Leone has come a long way in the music industry with a lot of young talents “but that its music has got stock somewhere and much has not be done in the past to take it to another level”.


He said the launching is a dream come true after hard work.


“We are dedicating this website to the music industry in Sierra Leone which is a blog and a downloading website facility that we together with bloggers have developed,” Mulbah said.


“We are not only doing the launching of this site today but want to assured you all present here, that the website is here to stay for good,” he said.

Mohamed Basiru Sanusi, a journalist working for Star Television, welcomed the idea. He admonished the promoters to brace up for the challenges ahead, adding that “the government need to come in and support the entertainment sector big time and that they should not consider that as favour”.

Ibrahim Kalokoh popularly known as DJ Kallox noted that for far too long the industry has been yearning for such development. “Now that the opportunity is here, musicians should make good use of it to help promote the industry,” he said.

He said there is need to showcase the country’s talents and values. He applauded the efforts of all those working to see to it that the industry be promoted to another level.

One of Sierra Leone’s finest local artists, Emmanuel Roger a.k.a Foyor also commended the efforts of both Yeama Konteh and Joshua Mulbah. He expressed the hope that his colleagues would make good use of the facility.
